The tower of gold and cantabria
The tower of gold and santander
it is curious that there are many cities in Cantabria a north region of Spain that have in their shields reflected the tower of gold.
This surprising fact is due to the battle which finish in the conquer of Seville in 1248 by the Crusades when the four squads fleets of the Cantabrian coastal villages, Santander, San Vicente de la Barquera Castro Urdiales, and Laredo, stormed the tower by the river, breaking the chains and allowing the assault of the city from within the walls, which ended with the siege of the city.
You can see these towers on each of these shields
